Chelan County’s Planning Commission (PC) has completed their work on the Short Term Rental code and sent their recommendations on to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Other than the two issues noted below, most of the changes fall into the category of administrative “clean up”. The important protections for residents, neighborhoods, and our housing supply remain intact.
Here are the two issues the Planning Commission was unable to resolve :
1) On the occupancy issue of children under 24 months, the PC’s recommendation is that a study group should be assembled to look at the issue.
2) On the life/safety inspection issue, the PC’s recommendation is that the BOCC address it themselves, in consultation with the Fire Marshall and to be consistent with the fire code.
A public hearing before the BOCC will be held on January 14th at 1:00PM at the Confluence Technology Center. We will post more information as we get closer to this date.
Other than the two issues mentioned above, RC3 is pleased with the decisions made by the PC. It is clear that all of the letters and testimony provided by residents made a huge difference in protecting this code. Thank you to everyone who has helped!
